Chapter 2

The Truth


Shut Up! I thought. I don't want to wake up,stay Quiet! Of course,though,I couldn't had to get up,get to school,and face the terror of everyone around the school. Maybe even face a pissed Ryan,don't know why he would be though. I got up, could hear my Mom yelling at me.
"I'll be right there!." God,I wish she would calm down,she thinks to drastically. " What's for breakfast?" I think I heard her yell eggs and bacon,but with her,you can never know.
I walked out of my room,down the hall,and into the smell of pancakes. " I could have sworn I heard you say Eggs and Bacon." I said,sat down across from my sister,who was texting,as usual,just to make clear.
" She did, but of course-" My sister began.
" Crazy like a cat." We finished together,we didn't laugh,we are like each other in every way,but different in every way.
" What's going on at school,heard some one popular is coming." She nearly laughed at the word popular.
" New kid." I said. Then remembered meeting her.
Want Help? She said. Then I spaced out at her beauty.
Who is she? I thought. Who is she?



" We're going to be late Edge." My God SHUT UP! I thought. We're not going to be late!
" Lysa, can you do me a favor?" She looked up,and huhed me. " Shut Up!"
" Well,the bell's going t-" She shut up. I drove off a ramp,and over the street,hitting the ground as rough as possible,my motor bike giving a heave as I sped down. As soon as Lysa regained breath she started yammering things like " You sorry son-" and "What the HELL! You could have got us killed." I was about ready to knock some sense into her head.



I parked in a parking spot, Lysa got up,and walked to her waiting friends,a little breathless,thank god. I just started walking to my first class,even though we still had ten minutes until the bell rang. I had a reason though, this teacher actually knows who I am,unlike everyone else.I knocked on the door,heard a come in,and pushed it open,only to be star struck at the people in there.
" Ah, Edge,come in." My teacher said,I looked round at the standing people,let's count shall we. Principal, Vice Principal, Councilor, 5 Parents,and let's not forget cops.
" I could come back later Mr. Hex." I said,beginning to back out.
" No it's okay,just take a seat,and I'll be with you soon." Mr. Hex said. I did as he said,but couldn't shake of the people's eyes until Mr. Hex finally began again. I wasn't listening, just sitting there,wondering what to do, until he said something quietly,but sharp enough, for me to hear.
" What!" He looked at me, I was pretending to listen to my MP3. " Shit,this isn't supposed to happen, why did Rex come back?" Rex,that was my nephew's name,but it's only a coincidence. Right? I thought.
" Keep it down, family isn't allowed to hear,especially family who isn't one of them." They snuck a glance at me,every one,but I had my eyes closed so I could see them, but they hopefully thought I had fallen asleep. " He's looking for his accomplices. Evra and Phoenix." Who? I thought. This is getting crazy, Rex is back,and he's looking for some people named Evra and Phoenix,why would they tell my teacher this?
" I will take this into account," He said ",now please leave."
I heard the people leave,and the shutting of the door as the last person walked out.
" You heard it all,right?" Mr. Hex asked me.
" Not if it gets me killed." I said straightening out and looking at him,trying to keep the emotion out.
" Not by me,just be careful, you're family already knows,they've been warned." He said,finally looking up at me,emotionless.
" You should get ready for class." He said,got up and walked over to the white board. " It may be your last."
I looked at him,hearing the seriousness. I looked at my bag, grabbed it and stood up.
" No,I think I'll leave,find a way to get rid of the danger." I looked to the door,and began walking.
" Be careful,death isn't even close to what he is going to do." He said,turning and looking at me,I knew cause the window reflected it. I didn't look back. I couldn't look back is more right, I didn't want to face anything that was going to happen. It seemed strange the way everything was happening. New girl, Rex, the sudden upset by people.
" I'll be fine...see ya later teach." I said and walked out. I went down the sidewalk,passed the field,passed everything. All I felt was the cool breeze of the early morning against my face.

By the time I reached the pass that goes to downtown towards my house or out of town it was late 8 o' clock,early 9 o'clock,and the breeze was turning to a chill. I sat on the bench of the bus stop here,two side by side,me on the one next to the pole. Wondering where I should go.
Ring Ring Ring!
" What the hell?" I looked around to find a cellphone on the bench beside me. " That wasn't there before,was it?" I looked at the number,it was private. Thinking it was going to stop soon,I just let it ring.
After a couple rings,it stopped. Then it started all over again.
" My God!" I shouted. Still, I let the phone ring.
Over the next couple minutes it kept ringing. I was getting a bad feeling about this. It was either something really important,or someone was calling me. The latter sounded unbelievable,but even so,if it was true,they knew I was here. Knowing that,I got up and walked off,towards my house, but the phone wouldn't stop ringing. Before I could get past third tree of the tightly packed trees here,I rushed back and answered.
" Who is this?" I yelled. Only to hear something most terrifying, so terrifying,my breathed leaped out of me and I was on my knees.
" Edge, Uncle buddy. How have you been?" The voice was like a slither, creeping up my spine,I felt the chill of cruelty,not of cold.
" You should be...you should be..." I was gasping for air,heartache ripping me to shreds.
" Dead,or dieing? I know, I got out,I have friends. You know it isn't manly to be on the ground kneeing,it's like you're saying I'm your servant,or," he laughed,the evil slithering through the phone into my ear. " Asking for death." He hung up. I threw down the phone. Then heard the crunch of gravel behind me.
"So are we going to do this the easy way,or the hard way?" Rex laughed.
" What are you doing Rex?" I stood up,my back still facing him. Hand in pocket I said," Why do you want to kill people so much?"
" I never said I wanted to kill you did I?" He looked up,as if he was thinking." Nope,don't remember saying that." He laughed.
" Then why did you break out?"
" Isn't it obvious, I didn't want to die." He walked passed me and sat down,patting the spot next to him. " Sit Uncle. Sit."
I stood. " You should have thought about that before you killed all of those innocent people,for no reason none the less.
" Is that what they were telling you,the cops and family?" He looked up at me, a hint of hunger in his eyes.
" Yes."
" Then you can't trust family apparently." He looked at the woods.
" What do you mean,they are more trust worthy than you." I snapped at him.
" Amanda was in that crowd." He said that,my heart dropped. I fell to my knees,knowing what he meant.
" You KILLED her!" I stood up and backed away." And now you want me."
" Yes and no." He said,he stood up and walked over to me,putting his hands on me like a loving brother or father. " I killed her,to keep the family safe. I want you,but not as a kill,as a friend,a friend in need of his understanding. If you come with me,I will give you everything,family history even. I'll tell you about our fmaily bounds,who we are,what we can do,what made us."
" I...I..." I looked up at him,his eyes,piercing now. " What are you?"
He smiled,his teeth showing,his teeth always had an odd thing about them,extended K-9 teeth.Sharp,I always joked with him when he wasn't like this,saying things like,don't kiss your girlfriend's neck,might open a vein. Now,though,I don't want to joke, they are sharp,and maybe able to pierce my neck. Then it hit me. I looked at him,my eyes wide,shaking from what my head has come up with.
" You know Edge." He laughed. " We are different,we don't fear sunlight. Crosses and garlic are nothing compared to my power. I am a..."
" Vampire." I whispered. He lunged,but before he touched my neck,I heard a grunt. " I won't die so easily Nephew." There was a strange etal against flesh sound then another grunt.
" You think that will kill me?"
" No, but I hope to god this will!" I backed away he stumbled,raised my knife and sliced into his face hard,hard enough for a deep as hell cut. The cut went up his cheek,across his nose,and over his eye,ending at the forehead.
" You...are...trying..." He was gasping from the obvious pain form hte cut. Still no blood,ending all doubt about him being a vampire. "my...patience...Edge...." He must have heard the crunch crunch of the gravel,because in seconds he was after me.
" I'm not willing to die so soon!" I picked up speed,but he was too,a lot more than me.
" It isn't death,it's rebirth,the right to be God!" He yelled at me.
" Do I look like I give a crap!" I snapped behind myself." Rebirth and godly hood,they'd be too much of a pain!"
" Edge!" He yelled," Edge! I can save you from the humanity boundaries,set ou free!"
" I enjoy life!" I said,and made a sharp left. Only to walk into a dead end." Shit!"
" Edge!" He turned and started walking to me," Edge. Stop running from destiny. It's unbecoming of you."
" Why did you kill her,no How?" I asked him,knowing he knew what I meant.
" What do you mean?"
" Her body was found days later,after the massacre,in an old field of grass." I said,turning to him.
" I dropped her there,after finding out she wasn't one of us." He said,taking a step closer.
" What do you mean?"
" You and me share a special gene. A gene that dubs us vampires by human law." He said." Anyone can become a vampire,but some people are special,they can become 'Super' Vampires. Beings of nature,Gods!"
" Cut the God Crap!" I snapped at him." God's don't exist on the human plain."
" Human! HUMAN!" He started laughing." The Earth belongs to vampires,vampires control everything Edge,everything."
I felt my head lurch as wind rushed passed,but I was contemplating what he said.
" Bastard!" In seconds I was snapped back to reality,watching Rex fall to the ground. The cause landed in front of me,two Handguns drawn. Rex got back up slowly." Who the Hell are you?"
" Maximum Conner."
" That Rogue Bitch?" He asked her,I tried not laughing,but couldn't help it.I broke,but stopped as soon as two other people landed in front of Rex,I think behind the new guy I saw a large gun,or could it be a blade.
" Tyrant,are you okay?" The male asked,dust covering them.
" I'm Fine Evra,Phoenix, what is going on."
" They found you sir,they are coming." A female voice chirped.
" Tyrant,we must go."
" Fine let us go." Rex heaved,apparently jumping up,cause when I looked up there he was,followed by a female,lastly,by a man.
" Shit!" I gasped,the man had strapped to his back a blade,a Huge blade,the thing was at least sixty-two feet long.
" Damn,again." I looked down,seeing the woman. Woman,shit she has to be sixteen at the most. I thought.
" Ummm...." I started she turned.
" Who are you?" She asked. She put her guns away,but even the thought of them in her reach scared me.
"Edge,you?"
" I've told you,Maximum Conner,but I prefer Max." She said,sighing.
" Can you tell me who the other two were?"
She looked at me,apparently realizing something. " You're not a vampire are you?"
" Nope." I looked her over,she was on the very slim side,but still,but she had an air around her,it was saying she isn't to be messed with." Can you tell me who those people were?"
" You seem to know Tyrant already. The others were his lackeys,Evra and Phoenix." She said,not caring.
" Okay,who are you?"
" I've-"
" I mean who are you?"
" No time." She turned and ran off.
" Damn!" Who was she? I thought to myself. So odd,she just didn't care.

What to do? What to do. I thought. I turned over on my bed,and looked out the window at the setting Sun. Everything is different. Rex is back. Rex killed Amanda. Rex is a vampire. Rex is after me. Rex wants me to be his partner in a life of killing. Then there's that new girl. Max. Never seen Max before in my life. She is a 'Rogue Bitch'. What could that mean? Could she be making her life out of hunting down vampires. Maybe a vampire killed her family.
" Edge!" I heard my mom call me." Edge it's time for dinner."
" Coming!" I yelled back.
" Hey bro,what's up?" Lysa asked me,walking over to sit next to me." You're not your annoying asshole self,why?"
I sat up." Just have had stuff on my mind. Was school good?"
" It was fine,although you owe me." She said smiling.
" Why's that?" I looked at her.
" No reason." She was holding back a laugh." Just some certain person was wondering where you were,she wanted to talk to you."
" Who?" I asked getting up,walking towards her.
" Want to know who really badly?"
" Yes."
" Really?"
" Yes,who Lysa?"
" Gotta catch me!" She yelled and ran off.
" Lysa!" I ran after her she was running down the stairs, I took the short way,and...Jumped! " Shit!" I yelled on my way down,landing on my feet,a shock went up my foot,stunning me,but Lysa didn't notice my drop,she was looking up and I grabbed her as she turned her head.
" Holy! Shit!" She yelped as I grabbed her arms and pinned them to her side.
" Who!"
" Damn! But...How?" She asked,I shook her out of it and glared at her." Oh,right. I think her name was Liz,or something,it was the new girl. Amazing how fast she got to-" She trailed off,or at least I trailed off. New girl,wanting me?
" You're joking right?" I asked looking at her,stopping her from completing her sentence.
" Nope,she seemed worried,don't know why."
" I'll be home later."
" What about dinner?" She asked.
" Tell mom that she can either save me some,or let people dig in." I said,grabbing my coat and walking out.
" Edge!?" I heard her yell." Be safe! Don't Die!" I smirked at her comment.
